![]() ![]() Setapp is a great way to get instant access to useful indie apps in a user-friendly library. Plus, as an important side note, as I understand it, the developers of Setapp, MacPaw, are from Kyiv in the Ukraine, so by subscribing, you are supporting Ukrainian software developers during a very difficult time in their nation. If the app is more expensive than your $9.99 sub, the app developer gets paid over time. It’s a win-win situation for both the user and the app developers. What Setapp is doing, and doing brilliantly I think, is bundling these indie apps together as a library and giving you a cost-effective way to buy them without having to hunt for them. All of them are indie apps and utilities that are relatively inexpensive to buy, and some are available separately, directly from the developer. I use it all the time.ĭo note that the Setapp apps are not expensive apps. It’s a great app, and I know this because I reviewed it before. You can do automated system cleanups, uninstall and update your apps, detect and destroy malware, boost your speed, etc. Scan your Mac, and the app looks at your system and decides what needs fixing, informs you, and gives you a big GO button to start cleaning. All the tasks you may want to perform are listed down the left side, and the action takes place on the right. CleanMyMac X (also by MacPaw) is the latest iteration of a powerful app to clean, optimize, and protect your Mac. Let’s look in detail at the kind of apps you can get with Setapp. If you have any problems with the apps you receive through Setapp, you can still contact the app developer directly for tech support. These are, after all, indie apps, not free apps, so there has to be some quality control and after-sales customer service. There are also three places to set your hotkeys: one for doing a character/word/line count of your selection, one for evoking the last cleaner on selected text, and one for choosing from the full list of cleaner to apply on the currently selected text. While some of the apps are a bit niche, in general, there are many useful utilities, and most are very good quality. Tc:loadpopclipext This will load the popclip extension for executing the last cleaner on the highlighted text. You can set a hotkey to count the current selection. If a string is passed with it, it will count that string. Tc:count This will count the number of lines, words, and characters in the clipboard. Tc:addcleaner This will set the string given into the list of preferred cleaners. You should do this each time you create new cleaners you want to use with this workflow. ![]() Tc:getcleaners This will query TextSoap for the list of cleaners it has. Tc:editlist Allows you to edit the list of preferred cleaners using the editor already setup. Tc:seteditor Allows you to set the text editor for editing the list of preferred cleaners. You can set a hotkey to perform this on the current selection as well. Tc:fulla This keyword is the same as tc:full, but will append the results to the topmost application. The cleaner you select will be performed on the clipboard and the cleaner will be saved into your list of preferred cleaners. Tc:full This keyword will show all available cleaners obtained from the tc:getcleaners. You can set a hotkey to repeat the last ran cleaner on the clipboard. If you hold down the fn key, it will delete that cleaner from the list of preferred cleaners. ![]() When you hit enter on an entry, it will perform that cleaner on the clipboard. Tc:clean This keyword will present a list of all previously used cleaners to pick from. I now use it more than awk! The following are the keywords defined: This workflow interfaces with TextSoap, a great text processing program. Otherwise, I will not worry about supporting older versions. If you need backwards compatability, please let me know. Notice: This workflow now supports version 8 of TextSoap. ![]()
